Following a successful pilot earlier this year, we are pleased to announce that the Post Endoscopy Upper Gastrointestinal Cancer (PEUGIC) portal is now live! Supported by a NIHR Research for Patient Benefit Grant and led by a team at Sandwell and West Birmingham NHS Trust, HDI are managing the PEUGIC root cause analysis portal hosted on the NDRS Clinical Audit System to investigate the causes of potentially missed Upper GI cancers at endoscopy. All endoscopy units in England have been asked to review 25 of their most recent PEUGIC cases and the data collected on over 3000 cases via the portal will be analysed to improve our understanding of why PEUGICs occur.
