October is Liver Cancer Awareness Month. AMMF – The Cholangiocarcinoma Charity have launched a new awareness campaign “Rethink Liver Cancer” to highlight the primary liver cancer cholangiocarcinoma (CCA). CCA is less well known, harder to diagnose and thus often diagnosed at a later stage than another primary liver cancer – hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). As a result, people with CCA are often left with limited treatment options and experience poor outcomes.

As part of this campaign, data analysis undertaken by our HDI analysts (Amy, Craig, Sophie and Roger) using data collected by the National Disease Registration Service at NHS England supports a number of recommendations made by AMMF in the White Paper AMMF-Rethink-Liver-Cancer-Report-2023.pdf .
