Intern Project
Data Visualisations for detailed cancer statistics
Overview:
The Get Data Out programme from Public Health England’s National Cancer Registration and Analysis Service (NCRAS) produces detailed statistics about incidence, routes to diagnosis, survival and treatment for small groups of cancer patients. In the summer of 2019 at HDI, our summer intern, Tobby, spent his time creating visualisations of this open source data. Tobby helped to transform these plain data tables into easy to use interactive graphics to help unlock messages for a public audience.
Tobby used a combination of R and d3.js to produce the data visualisations, and he developed novel ways of visualising the different combinations of treatments that cancer patients received.
Timeframe:
Summer 2019
Outcomes:
After some final finishing touches, the visualisations will be available to view later in 2020.
