Kim Whittlestone

I trained as a veterinary surgeon, have an MA in Medical Education and a coaching qualification. I enjoy helping to get the best out of individuals and teams. At HDI I am involved in making sure everything runs smoothly developing the potential of HDI’s products and people and nurturing the culture of the organisation. In my spare time, I am a keen DIY enthusiast and am passionate about sustainable energy and living!

Kim’s career started in Bristol in 1989 where he combined working as a veterinary surgeon with developing innovative approaches to teaching and learning. In 1997 he joined the Clinical and Biomedical Computing Unit, set up by Jem Rashbass at the University of Cambridge Clinical School and in 2001 Jem and Kim established the Centre for Applied Research in Educational Technologies at the University of Cambridge. From 2006 to 2019 Kim was Senior Lecturer in Independent Learning, Director of the Development of Academic Staff and, for the last two years, the Course Director for the MSc in Veterinary Education at the Royal Veterinary College in London.

Kim joined HDI as Chief Operating Officer in March 2019.

Kim has presented papers and given workshops around the world including the US (Atlanta, Salt Lake City, Saint Louis), Mongolia, Bangladesh, Ontario, the Czech Republic, Portugal, Switzerland, the Netherlands, Belgium, Denmark, Sweden, Norway, Dublin and Finland.
